In 1962, the direction was taken over by Tom Karen, an innovative Czech-born designer. Tom had briefly worked with David Ogle in the past but had moved on and had experience from companies like Hotpoint and Philips, where he set up the London design office. During his time as the Managing Director he was responsible for some innovative designs, among them the Reliant Scimitar GTE Sports Coupé Sports Estate, the Raleigh Chopper and the 3 wheeled Bond Bug.

Tom Karen was the head of the company until 1999.
